Palace Of Versailles is All Set Turn into an Extravagant Luxury Hotel

Who wouldn’t love to spend a night or two lavishly in the grandeur of the Palace of Versailles? You can now actually get a chance to do so for a building at the treasured landmark is soon going to be turned into a luxurious five star hotel. Versailles is one of the most visited tourist spots across the world. Hundreds of tourist line up to see the majestic palaces every year. This definitely is a piece of good news for tourists.

The plush hotel will stand about one hundred yards from the main palace which was once home to the French monarchy since Louis XIV. The mansion better known as Hotel du Grand Controle was built in the 1680s to serve as the offices and homes of the king’s treasurer. The deputy administrator for the Palace of Versailles Mikael Hautchamp is upset at the sorry state of the heritage monument. Due to inadequate funds he has finally turned to Belgian hotel company Ivy International. The company will refurbish the 23 bedroom palace into a luxury hotel.

Some eyebrows have been raised about handling over a national treasure to a private operator but it is certainly better than letting it fall into ruins. The hotel is slated to be opened in January 2012 and is supposed to be called Hotel de l’Orangerie.

The name seems to be apt more so because the windows of the bedroom give a breathtaking view of the Orangerie where Louis XIV stored his 1,700 orange and palm trees throughout the winter months. It is being said that when the hotel officially opens in January 2012, guests will be given champagne and access to wander across the famous gardens which have not been trespassed for over 300 years.
