Orient Express has been operating luxury trains and cruises for many years now. For the 2012 season they have announced the launch of exclusive six night cruises on luxury barges. These cruises have been designed for art enthusiasts and art lovers. They would be employing their Afloat in France fleet of luxury barges. These exclusive cruises have been announced in addition to the existing schedule for the year and are designed to provide an insight into the world of French art and wine. There are different routes on offer and there is a suitable one for everyone.
Two tours have been planned for the lovers of art. Napoléon and Fleur de Lys will be the luxury barges used for the cruise. Renowned painter David Napp will accompany the guests and guide them on various techniques for painting right in the stunning landscape of the Rhône Vallée and the town of Beaune. Fleur de Lys which will depart on May 20 will cruise along the Burgundy Canal towards Dijon taking in the picturesque sites of Château de Pommard and the city of Beaune. The luxury barge can accommodate up to six guests. The prices start at £4,850 per person on twin sharing basis.
Napoléon is the larger barge with plush accommodations for up to 12 persons. It will depart from Tain in the Rhone Vallee on the 1st and the 8th of July. Called the Picture Perfect Week, the cruise is designed as a Wine Discovery journey that takes the guests to the magnificent vineyards situated between Tain L’Hermitage and Chalon-sur-Saône in the Rhône Vallée. The region is known for Côtes du Rhône, Beaujolais and Pouilly Fuisse and local wine experts will join guests on the way and suggest pairings of fine wines with gourmet delicacies. Prices will start from £3,800 per person on twin sharing basis.
