Ear bud covers may not be on your immediate wish list unless you are a hard-core music buff. But the OC Concept Store on Madison Avenue is selling exclusive ear bud covers for a whopping $10,000. The price is justified, however, for these are diamond encrusted ear bud covers designed with white or black diamonds.
The 3,400 store on 655 Madison Avenue, near East 60th Street, is owned by Swiss jewellery designer Orianne Collins, ex-wife of Phil Collins who reportedly walked away from marriage to the musician with a $50 million settlement. Ashley Orfus, the marketing coordinator of the OC Concept Store, revealed that Collins travels around the world scouting for the best rarities. Thus, the OC Concept Store stocks a range of exciting goodies like ostrich iPad covers worth $1,500, snakeskin iPhone covers costing $150 and even crystal ear buds costing between $98 and $150. But not everything is expensive. On offer are also chocolate spoons that melt into a glass of hot chocolate. These spoons come for only $5.
Meanwhile, the OC Concept Store is working on collaborations with celebrities. This May, four pairs of purple and gold sunglasses designed by singer Mary J. Blige will hit the store.
Moreover, the OC Concept Store is not just another boutique store. It is more like a gallery that encourages passersby to drop in for a look. The store houses a gold leaf dining table that doubles up as a pool table. A recently sold quirky item from the store included a crystal foosball table.
