Mr. Porter, the Male Counterpart of Net-A-Porter to be Launched

Net-A-Porter is a 10 year old women’s luxury site. This online retailer was bought over by the Swiss luxury retailer Richemont for $ 533 million about two months ago. The new owners who have acquired full control of the company propose to launch a male counterpart to the women’s site.

The proposed name of the new e-commerce portal is “Mr. Porter”. It will sell clothes from high-end luxury brands including Ralph Lauren, Burberry and YSL. The new portal will also feature editorial content and style advice. The logistics have been worked out as they plan to offer same day delivery in New York and London. The company feels it is the most natural and logical expansion and diversification. The consciousness about fashion and style has been on the increase amongst men and the company hopes to encash that through this portal.

Natalie Massenet, the founder of the company is confident about the success of “Mr. Porter”. She said “We have a ready-made customer base for our men’s business; 100% of Net-A-Porter customers have a man in their lives in some capacity, and 59% of them are married or living with their partners.”With so much research and planning and experience of running the online business the new launch seems to be headed for huge success and will perhaps lead the company to think about the children the only segment left out now.
