McLaren F1: The Star Attraction for the July 9 Auctions

There is excitement amongst the collectors with a passion for cars. Come July 9 and McLaren F1, powered by BMW engines will cross the auction block during the Le Mans Classic. The auctioneers Acturial Motors anticipates it will fetch a price between $ 2.5 and 3 million.

It is not very often that the automobiles break the seven figure mark at auctions. It happens generally for the pre war classics and in some cases for post-war classics as well. But it has never happened for a sports car from the 90s. This is truly an exception and that is why it has created the buzz and a sense of anticipation and excitement amongst the enthusiasts. The July 9 auction is bound to be a grand affair that will witness some vigorous bidding amongst some high profile and some anonymous bidders.

McLaren F1 remains a highly coveted collector’s item. They command seven figure prices as a matter of routine. A race-spec McLaren F1 GTR is even more sought after as it is a rarity and difficult to find even in prestigious auctions. This one-of-a-kind example was originally owned by the French industrialist Jean-Luc Maury-Laribiere. He raced it at Le Mans in 1994.Later on he handed over his McLaren to the famous artist Cesar. The car is in many ways similar to BMW’s own art cars as this one is also powered by BMW engines.
