‘Most expensive necklace in the world’ is a precious record and the fine piece of jewelry which has been honored by this title is none other than Mouawad’s 637 carat L’Incomparable diamond necklace. Guinness World records have confirmed the new entry according to media reports and the valuation of the diamond necklace has been placed at a staggering $55 million. It is truly an incomparable piece of jewelry which has been created around a rare diamond. It is basically an 18 carat gold necklace but the central piece or the statement gem of the necklace is the 407.48 carat ‘Incomparable’ diamond. It has got its name not for nothing as it is the largest internally flawless diamond ever graded by the Gemological Institute of America.

The ‘Incomparable’ diamond is a natural fancy deep yellow shield step cut diamond. It is highly unlikely that we will come across another piece of comparable quality and size. This is the stone that has made the necklace unique and exclusive and also the most expensive necklace in the world. However there are other many other smaller stones that add up to make the necklace complete. There are 35 round diamonds, 27 pear-shaped diamonds, nine heart shaped diamonds, five emerald-cut diamonds, five cushion diamonds, four oval diamonds, three Asscher-cut diamonds and two radiant diamonds. All these stones help to highlight the beauty and the brilliance of L’Incomparable.
It is the 4th Time that Mouawad Has Gained an Entry in Record Books
The Geneva based luxury jewelry and timepiece company Mouawad is not new to Guinness World Record. This is the fourth time that one of its creations has earned an entry into record books. They had unveiled the priceless jewelry at the Doha Jewellery and Watch Exhibition which was held between February 25 and March 5. The annual exhibition attracts the best creations of the top players who even create special pieces for the event like the Cartier necklace. The Incomparable diamond originally weighed as much as 890 carats when it was mined. After the rough was cut and polished it reduced in weight but gained in beauty and brilliance. It was first displayed publicly in 1984. It traveled to several museums starting with Smithsonian Institute and has finally found its home in the necklace.
