Wendy Diamond, TV personality and animal rights activist had drummed up a lot of excitement for the most expensive dog wedding when her adopted Maltese, Lucky, was diagnosed of cancer. She had selected a partner for Lucky through an online contest and made very elaborate preparations to make it a grand affair. Unfortunately Lucky died last month and it was initially decided that the celebrations will take place as scheduled as a tribute to Lucky. In the mean time Diamond has adopted another dog Baby Hope. She went through the same process to select a partner for the new dog and now the wedding of Baby will take place tonight. Everything goes as per the original plans and schedules, only the dog has changed from Lucky to Baby Hope.
The Most Expensive Dog Wedding Ever
Diamond is aiming to set a new Guinness World Record for the most expensive animal wedding ever. She has managed to organize the festivities on a grand scale. New York City’s exclusive Jumeirah Essex House hotel on the edge of Central Park is the venue and and not some pet hotels. About 250 guests will attend the fairy tale wedding that would cost a total of $250,000. The guests will be entertained by a $15,000 seven piece orchestra. The dog who might earlier visit a pet spa will come dressed in a custom made $6,000 wedding dress. He will definitely feel like the richest dog in the world. Chilly Pasternak is the lucky Virginia poodle that won the online vote to partner Baby Hope. The owner will travel with the pet. Diamond has orchestrated this grand wedding not to find a partner to live with Baby Hope but to raise funds for helping animal rescue and welfare.
Lucky Diamond Critical Care Ward
Diamond isn’t actually spending the money for this wedding but all the vendors are donating their services to the black-tie gala. It is going to be $250 per ticket affair and all the money raised will go to the Lucky Diamond Critical Care Ward at the Humane Society of New York. Some celebrities are scheduled to attend the gala event including “Real Housewives of New York†star LuAnn de Lesseps and Dylan Lauren, daughter of Ralph Lauren and owner of Dylan’s Candy Bar chain. But the stars of the show are going to be Baby Hope and Chilly. Harriette Rose Katz, the renowned wedding planner who had also planned Diamond’s wedding is working overtime to ensure that everything goes as per plans. It is like any high profile wedding and Diamond herself was claiming that she is working like a dog as any maid of honor would do.

Diamond has adopted Baby Hope but she is not calling herself the mother of the bride as Baby Hope is almost 56 if converted to human life cycle. However she has organized the services of the best service providers. Floralia Decorators, the florists for New York’s famed Waldorf-Astoria hotel have decorated the venue. Buddy Valastro the renowned N.J.-based bakery has created a surprise wedding cake. Diamond has previous experience of holding a Guinness World Record. Her Maltese, Lucky who was the face of her charity Animal Fair for more than a decade was dubbed the “Animal Most Photographed with Celebrities.†She had been photographed with celebrities ranging from Betty White to Barbara Walters. Over 300 photographs have been posted on the charity website under the column ‘Who Got Lucky?’
