Remember ‘Back To The Future’, the blockbuster Hollywood movie series that took the concept of time travel to whole new level? Well, the entire trilogy taught two things, first that a mad scientist could come up with just about anything, no matter how farfetched it is and the second was that, a sports car is the best way to travel through time. The intoxicating De Lorean DMC-12, which was portrayed as a time machine is now slated to be back into production, thanks to a joint venture between De Lorean Motor Company and electric-car startup Epic EV. This all new electric De Lorean will be designed by the legendry Giugiaro, who designed the initial model in 1981 and will also be structurally redesigned by Colin Chapman of Lotus. The Electric De Lorean will be  powered by a 200 bhp+ electric motor  and will feature thoroughly revamped interiors.
The original De Lorean DMC-12 was designed and developed in the 1980 and was later sold in the United States between 1981-1982, before the company went bankrupt. Before ceasing production, the De Lorean Motor Company had sold some 9,000 units and the car achieved a cult status after it was starred in Back To The Future trilogy. The De Lorean Motor Company was later resurrected by Texas entrepreneur Stephen Wynne, who not only bought the name of the company, but also acquired remaining parts inventory, which helped him selling 40 De Lorean DMC-12 cars since the year 2007. One of the original DMC-12 that was featured in the shooting of the trilogy is now reportedly going up for auction in December this year and is expected to fetch anywhere between $400,000 and $600,000.
