Luxury Hotels Offer Sight-Seeing Bicycle Program

For all those who believe that a vacation at a luxury property implies that your ride will be a Merc or a Rolls-Royce, an unlikely trend is catching on. Luxury hotels are now offering guests the opportunity to explore the neighborhood on bikes that are available at the hotel. Luxury hotel group Morgans is the latest to join the bicycle bandwagon.

Morgans controls a number of well-known hotel properties. Their portfolio includes the Sanderson Hotel in London and Mondrian hotels in Soho and Miami. Only this week, Morgans announced the bicycle program. This should soon be introduced across its properties worldwide. As for the bicycles in question, they will be the Public J7 bikes. These city bikes have a Dutch-inspired design with high handlebars to make sightseeing easier.

The bicycle program is set to roll out from London’s Sanderson Hotel and St. Martin’s Lane hotel. In recent times, new cycle lanes have been constructed across the length and breadth of the British city, so this seems like a good enough place to start.

Following the London chapter, bike services will be introduced at Morgans other properties. These include the Ames in Boston, Delano and Mondrian South Beach in Miami, and the Mondrian SoHo in NYC, among others.

Morgans will not be the first to introduce this new must-have hotel amenity. In 2010, Fairmont introduced BMW bicycles in hotels across North America. Scandic and the Four Seasons also offer bicycle rentals at their properties. Even Marriott and Holiday Inn have been introducing bikes at their properties of late.
