Gone are the summer auctions. Now auction houses and proud owners of antique masterpieces are busy populating auction shelves with their valuables, thus generating big bucks out of it. One of the auction products that have created a buzz is one of Vincent Van Gogh’s last landscapes and a Turner masterpiece that was thought to have been lost. Bamborough Castle was last seen in 1889 but now it has being publicized by reaching Sotheby’s auction block and its sale is scheduled for 5 December in London.
Turner is identified as Britain’s greatest water-colorist and his creation Bamburgh Castle depicts 20 miles south of Berwick-upon-Tweed, on the edge of the North Sea, in the mid-1830s. Before getting lost, the painting was with Vanderbilt family in 1890, where it stayed for more than a few generations. This artwork has gained deserving recognition as one of the premium watercolour sketch globally and is anticipated to fetch $3-5 million.
