Lora Piana Presents World Class Suits Made From Ultra-Fine Record-Making Wools

Lora Piana is known for its rare ultra-fine wools. Thus, Lora Piana’s Record Bale line of world class suits is right up there with Dunhill suits and other bespoke clothing brands. Lora Piana’s World Wool Record Competition was introduced 11 years ago to encourage merino sheep breeders to create the finest wools in the world. This year, the company has acquired a record-making bale of fine wool, where each thread measures 10.9 microns. Put simply, it means that a strand of this wool is 10 times finer than the average human hair.

It will take time for this wool to be woven into cloth, and then stitched into world class suits. Until then, collectors of Lora Piana’s Record Bale line of clothing will have to make do with the next best thing, fine wool that measures 11.4 microns.

This previous record-making bale was procured from the Highlander Farm in Australia, which is owned by Suzanne and Matthew Triplet. The limited edition suits that will be stitched out of this fine bale are set to come with a price tag of $22,500. The bespoke suit brand’s earlier customers will be offered the new record-making suits first. Only following their refusal will the new suit be offered to new clients.

Generally, customers can also decide whether they want Lora Piana to stitch their suits or some other tailor. Each fabric bears an exclusive label that guarantees the date, uniqueness and authenticity of the piece. The so-called “icon of the wool industry” annually pushes breeders to create the finest of wools. The results have earned the brand much respect and a few Guinness World Records as well.
