Limited Edition Saddle For Calgary Stampede Centennial Costs $5,000 Apiece

The year 2012 will mark the 100th anniversary of the Calgary Stampede. This is a big event for horseback riding enthusiasts in Canada. And expectations are bound to rise as the centenary year approaches. Among the highlights of the upcoming centenary celebrations of the Calgary Stampede are the “2012 Centennial Saddles“, which are being handcrafted by veteran saddle maker Vic Bennet. In the past, we have seen the modern Hermes saddle, but the Vic Bennet creation is unlikely to veer away from tradition. Nor is it anything like last year’s Aston Martin saddle for cars.

Vic Bennet’s saddles will certainly be luxurious, but they will also be steeped in tradition. Given that horseback riding is typically limited to the wealthier classes, these limited edition handcrafted 2012 Centennial Saddles should attract plenty of attention. The association of the Vic Bennet brand name should further persuade interested parties to purchase these luxurious collectors’ edition saddles. After all, these will be much-coveted sports memorabilia for Canadian fans of horseback riding.

During the Calgary Stampede, the winning horses and their riders in the final round are given a number of gifts, including a saddle. For the centennial edition of the Calvary Stampede, the funds for these winning saddles will come from the sale of the limited edition saddles from Vic Bennet.

These high-end saddles will seriously pinch your pocket. They cost a whopping $4,995 (plus GST) apiece and only 100 will be available for sale. These saddles will bear the logo and monogram of the event, along with autographs of Vic Bennet and Calgary Stampede Board President and Chairman Mike Casey. News has it that royal couple William and Kate will attend the event’s opening segment.
