Billionaire Larry Ellison known for buying the most expensive island, seems to have a soft spot for Lake Tahoe. Since 2006 he has been buying property in Glenbrook, Nev. and assembling and upgrading it into a large and luxurious estate. But he got another property on the north shore of the lake and is in the process of building an estate from scratch. In fact, it should be ready for moving in this year and that’s why he has listed the Glenbrook compound. The estate spread over 7.6 acres has 420 feet of lake frontage. Jennie Fairchild of Chase International Real Estate is handling the listing. The main house on the estate has 9,242 square feet of living space including six bedrooms, eight full bathrooms and one half bathroom.
The Main House on the Estate Has Been Completely Made Over
Larry Ellison has given the house a complete makeover which took him all of three years. The main house now boasts of a soundproof screening room, a gym, a billiard room, a library and a sauna. The master bedroom now has two dressing rooms with their own attached bathrooms. And each of them features a handcrafted wooden ofuro, a Japanese soaking tub. There is an independent guest house on the estate spread over 1,326 square feet featuring two bedrooms and three bathrooms. There is another independent home on the lake front with five bedrooms and three full baths and two half baths. To fully enjoy the 230 feet of lake frontage there are two piers, a floating dock, two buoys and a rock breakwater.
There Are Mostly Family Estates in the Area That Don’t Come to Market
In addition to the above there is a 426-square-foot lakeside cabana with a sun deck and a built-in barbecue on the roof and a hot tub looking out to the lake. It is the most sunny part of the lake. The other highlights of the estate are terraced gardens, a pond, a stream, a small waterfall, a heated driveway and patios, a state-of-the-art security system and a guardhouse. The listing offers a great opportunity to own a highly developed luxury estate on Lake Tahoe. Most of the properties around the lake and the nearby area are family estates that are passed on from generation to generation and don’t come to the market. Ellison has developed it with love and care and not for commercial purposes.
