Another record-breaking auction! Featured above is a hand-written, exemplified book of wizardry by Harry Potter writer JK Rowling that fetched a record breaking $3.98 million (1.95 million pounds) at an auction scheduled in London today. To my non-surprise, the sale generated is almost 40 times of the pre-sale expected price. It was anticipated that “The Tales of Beedle the Bard” would fetch 50,000 pounds.
The proud buyer is a London-based dealer Hazlitt, Gooden and Fox. The bidding process was on for nearly 10 minutes with counted 10 bidders (five inside the premises and rest over the phone). The sales generation is the highest ever earned at any auction for a contemporary fictional script. Also, it can be seen a record auction for a work by JK Rowling and for a children’s book. All earnings made through this auction would be donated to the Children’s Voice, a charity Rowling co-founded in 2005 to support helpless children across Europe.
Rowling claims it to be a sanitization of the subjects picked in the Harry Potter earlier books and he also enjoyed writing it by taking it as his mouthpiece to bid farewell to his golden moments happened during 17 years. Counted seven copies are being produced with a base of brown leather and bedecked in silver and moonstones. Whilst the other six have gone to people intimately associated to the Harry Potter books, the seventh one earned its pompous owner today.
