InterContinental Hotels & Resorts to Manage Baan Taling Ngam Resort & Spa in Koh Samui, Thailand

The InterContinental Hotels Group already has the largest number of rooms worldwide. They are still expanding and have recently put in place an agreement in Thailand with Elite Villa Co., Ltd, to launch the Inter Continental Resort brand in Koh Samui, Thailand. Under the agreement the Baan Taling Ngam Resort & Spa, the island’s very first luxury resort will come under the management of IHG.

Koh Samui which is barely an hour away from the Thai capital Bangkok is a popular destination that offers visitors the idyllic island life. The resort with 300 meters of its own beach frontage is spread amidst coconut plantations and is the perfect luxury getaway. It offers panoramic view of the National Marine Park and the neighboring ‘Five Islands’. The resort will be shut down temporarily for an extensive $15 million renovation. The 79 room resort would be ready for reopening under new management by December 1, 2011.

IHG has been focusing on the resort segment and this is definitely valuable addition to their portfolio. Taling Ngam Resort is Koh Samui’s first luxury resort and today remains one of the top resorts in the island. It will be IHG’s second resort in Thailand, joining InterContinental Hua Hin Resort, which opened in 2009. InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has presence in more than 60 countries. An InterContinental experience is about connecting guests to what is special about a destination.
