Why should grown-ups have all the fun? Gucci seems to be asking that very question as it opens a luxury boutique dedicated to kids wear on New York’s Fifth Avenue. The luxury store is Gucci’s first such outlet for the little ones. And it will house such goodies as a pink biker jacket for your little girl. At $3,800, the price is not so little, however. Clearly, the recession is affecting some companies much less than others, if Gucci is comfortable catering to such a tiny fraction of the luxury market with a standalone boutique. As for the kiddies, they will have 1,450 square feet of dedicated retail space to run around in, while their mommies pick out high-end garbs for their children to wear.

The kids’ boutique will cater to the high-end tastes of your fashionable little tykes. And not everything is as expensive as that $3,800 biker jacket. $180 will get you cotton lafayettes bearing the GG pattern. The prices for dresses and jeans begin from $250. Of course, the higher the price, the cuter the outfit will be. But if you are looking for winter wear, you will have to fork out a lot more. A hooded, quilted down winter jacket for an infant will set you back by a good $795.
Want to make your cute-as-a-button daughter look more grown up? On offer is a white faux-wrap dress costing $495 and a Gucci bag with leather trim and an engraved teddy bear for $825. By buying Gucci products for your kids you would be following in the footsteps of no less a fashion icon than Jennifer Lopez. JLo and her two toddlers had appeared in Gucci’s 2011 spring kid’s campaign last year.
