Lately, we have been writing about many innovative work spaces that are both ergonomic and modern in their look and feel. The Globus Scriptorium is a wonderful addition. Designed by Dutch innovator Michiel van der Kley, this desk and chair lie ensconced inside a pod for a flexible work environment. Also, it lets you create your own space without any rude obstructions from the world outside.
Kley has been inspired by the designs of the futurists in 1930 to make the 2 1/1″ diameter pod with two durable polyurethane hemispheres that open with the built-in handle to form a seat and workspace. Not only that, the foam-molded seat padded luxuriously with leather can swivel a complete 180 degrees and keeps you as comfortable as you can be.
The workstation has a strong volkern plastic desktop that opens into the front hemisphere with support from a hidden steel bracket; this gives you a small storage area for all your knick-knacks. Priced at $7,000, this pod occupies the space required for a large ottoman. Home delivery is available by phone.
