Geoffrey Parker Reintroduces Its Most Expensive Chess Set Design for $77,880

Geoffrey Parker, founded in 1958, has been designing and producing some of the world’s finest luxury bespoke games for over half a century now. Their latest release is the Silver Jubilee Edition Chessboard which is one of the most expensive chess board in the world, carrying a price tag of $77,880. It is not a new design but the reintroduction of their classic design created in the 1960s to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Silver Jubilee. Only sets were created at the time and they won the prestigious Design Council Award in London. The purpose of designing the chess set was also to compliment their association with the fabled Staunton design.

Most Expensive Chess Set Gets Approved From US Chess Federation

The exclusive chess set was designed and developed over two years as they wanted to get the aesthetics right. Geoffrey even went to the most important chess organization in the country, the United States Chess Federation to get their approval in terms of balance and playability of the board and its pieces. The design has been produced in sterling silver and even aluminum. Later on in the eighties they experimented with black carbon graphite plated brass. The design has stood the test of times, and is truly a delight to play with. The chess set is now being offered in sterling silver, sterling silver-gilt and even solid gold.

The Original Set Carries the Silver Jubilee Hall Mark        

Geoffrey Parker is a traditional British manufacturer of bespoke games and their exclusive products world’s luxury stores, casinos and the homes of the elite who commission them to create a piece according to their specifications and preferences. The Silver Jubilee Chess set is now being offered with a 3 micron 18ct gold plating on top.
