Kiehl’s is celebrating its 160th year and it is going to be a very important year for them as they would be launching their first ever spa in New York City. The company was launched 160 years ago from the city. The spa will open its doors for guests in mid July. All the treatments offered by the spa will exclusively use only Kiehl’s products. The spa is being readied in a two storied building at 157 East 64th Street on the Upper East Side. The spa has been named 1851 alluding to the brand’s founding year.
Kiehl’s will have their traditional store on the ground floor and the spa will take up the entire first floor. The entire spa industry and particularly hip spa chains like Bliss are watching the development anxiously Kiehl’s spa means serious competition for them. Chris Salgardo, President of Kiehl’s said that it was their customers who were demanding a spa from them for years now and it is good that they are finally able to offer New Yorkers unique skin and body treatments with their exclusive ingredients and products. The move seems very appropriate and satisfying for the company as it is happening while celebrating the 160th anniversary.
The treatments offered by the spa will be highly customized and will be developed after personal consultation with the guests. Apart from infusion therapies and hand-blended masques, there will also be anti-aging facials such as Microdermabrasion or Micro Current Stimulation. In true Kiehl’s style the spa will offer some hip perks like iPads and artwork by David LaChapelle. The spa will also offer shave and haircut services for men. Prices range from $15 for a mustache trim to $330 for the Ultimate Kiehl’s Body Restoration.
