For those who are part of the luxury industry, this was the party of the year. One of them at least. Sometime ago, I had written about Luxury 360, a supplement to the Financial Times that would focus on all things luxury. That was in September, and Financial Times is still working on promoting the section. A case in point was the reception held on 8 November 2011 as part of the launch effort for Luxury 360.
A bouquet of fantastic cocktails and canapés greeted guests at the high-end reception that was held at the home of Gillian Tett, the US managing editor of the Financial Times. So yes, this was a highly exclusive event; one that numerous luxury lifestyle bloggers would have given an arm and a leg to attend. Everything from the food to the décor was a reflection of Luxury 360’s (and thereby Financial Times’) commitment to all things luxury.
That commitment was easily visible by way of the guest list. There were plenty of high-profile names hailing from the world of luxury business. Alex Bolen, CEO of Oscar de la Renta was here representing the luxury brand. So were Valerie Hermann, CEO of Reed Krakoff; Emanuele Della Valle, Creative Director of Tods; Susan Lyne, Chairman of Gilt Groupe and many other big names. Other noted attendees included Steven Kolb, CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Michael Bruno, President of 1stdibs. Yes, the guest list was like a list of the who’s who of the luxury industry. Just as it should be.
