You can take the essence of childhood charm of video game into adulthood which is fully occupied by responsibilities, worries and household work like doing laundry. Now doing laundry won’t be a dull moment with home appliances like the amusing washing machine which designed by Lee Wei Chen. While playing through levels, the laundry keeps going.
A Kingston university student, Lee Wei Chen in London who has designed amusement washing machine which is involved with a video game similar to video console of arcade style, with bottom unit consisting of functional washer and dryer of the washing machine. Here the two device’s circuitry is linked, so gamers’ progress depends on the cleaning cycle which totally depends on the way you play the game. If you are struggling to continue the game, you would need extra coins to carry out the cycle.
What knowledge and skill Chen has acquired in virtual world appears for him useless in actual world. So he wanted to make them more productive, useful and enjoyable time. To start with, the players feed the machine with the coins of three pound. When the player at certain level cannot progress without losing lives, the machine will not respond to move for the next cycle and then he has to use more money. Here two electronic objects are selected to execute the concept of design one is a washing machine and the other an arcade game.
This was designed for the London design festival where the game was exhibited. The Amusement Washing Machine was exhibited at Tent 2011, at the Truman Brewery in London’s Brick Lane from September 22-25.
