Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept from Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing

Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept is the latest offspring of the collaboration between Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing, a Miami based boat manufacturer. It has been dubbed as the world’s fastest and most powerful electric powerboat, which will be electrified by Mercedes-Benz. This 38 foot long powerboat will be launched at the Miami International Boat Show. It has an output capacity of 2,200 hp and torque of 3000 Newton metres allowing it to cruise with a speed of 160 km/h.

This powerboat is the successor to the emission-free Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive that was launched in September last year. It was described as ‘world’s most powerful series production electric car’. Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing have been collaborating for several years and have brought out other masterpieces like the Cigarette racing boats based on the Mercedes Benz AMG Black series, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Cigarette boat inspired by Mercedes’ SLS AMG supercar, and the 46 foot Cigarette Rider XP speedboat among others. This powerboat runs on twelve compact, ‘liquid-cooled permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors’, each one capable of delivering 138 kW and 250 Newton meters. The boat is also fitted with four lithium-ion high-voltage batteries that have reserves of 60 Kilowatt hours. This feature has been derived from Formula 1 technology.

The finishing is that of AMG Electricbeam mango, a bright yellow matte paint and has the AMG logo on both its sides and on top, conveying the union between Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing. Mercedes Benz has been dabbling in different avenues like boats and even helicopters. It showcased its yacht concept last year at Monaco and EC145 Luxury Helicopter at the European Business Aviation Convention. Interestingly, the German luxury car manufacturer also brought out a holiday gift series that included products like teddy bears and scarves! That is quite a range for Mercedes Benz.
