Much like her popular song “Blown Awayâ€, we were infact blown away by country star Carrie Underwood’s jewels at the Grammy’s this year. Before your head goes another way, I was talking about the resplendent necklace she was wearing for the award show. The $31 million diamond necklace by jewellers Johnathon Arndt. With this eye popping price tag, it became the most expensive jewelry to be worn at the Grammy Awards till date. The neck piece in question has been made of diamonds worth 381 carats. That’s right. It sounds like an entire jewellery stores worth of diamonds. But if you have seen her engagement ring, you will know that she likes her diamonds big and sparkly. These diamonds were cut in oval, pear, marquise and round shapes, clearly showing off the superb craftsmanship that went behind it.
Though this country girl has not found favour with most fashion critics who call her dressing style too, for lack of a better word, too beauty pageanty. But she looked a perfect fashion diva on this occasion in a Roberto Cavalli black mermaid gown, with an embroidered lace bustier embellished with baroque swirls. The figure hugging dress nicely complimented her hour glass figure and the neckline was ideal for her multimillion dollar bling. To avoid looking over the top, she did not wear another piece of jewellery.
At the red carpet, she joked with Ryan Seacrest from E! that “This is worth more than me, and everything I have, and have ever had and ever will have.†Carrie was obviously being humble. Her record sales have crossed 13 million copies and tour revenues have amassed more than $95million. Recent estimates put her net worth to about $45 million. She sure has come a long way from being a starry eyed American Idol contestant to a Country music star. A lot more sparkle was added to her night at the Grammy’s where she won the ‘Best Country Solo Performance’ and ‘Best Country Song’.
