Auction of most expensive house in the US

Topping the list of elite houses in US market, the one that invites all shutterbugs belongs to William Randolph Hearst and Marion Davies and is known as Beverly House.

The Beverly Hills mansion bought by Hearst for $120,000 in 1947 is presently retailed at $165 million. It covers 6.5 acres of land including four houses, an apartment and a separate cottage for the security staff. What justifies its price is the wide range of in-built facilities viz. three separate pools, 29 bedrooms, a movie theater and a disco that doesn’t let you move out this house for leisure or labor.

This state-of-the-art masterpiece was built in 1927 for banker Milton Getz and was designed by Gordon Kaufmann. Hearst bought for $120,000 in 1947. According to the LA times, this asset was bought by an attorney-investor Leonard M. Ross in 1976 for $25 million. Having placed featured in various movies viz. The Godfather, The Jerk and The Bodyguard, the value of this princely house 20 years ago was just $25 million.

History states that till date, no single house has been sold for more than $100 million in US. But against it, ample choices exist to handpick the luxurious houses, with astronomical prices including the $155 million mansion being built in Montana, $135 million compound owned by prince Bandar in Aspen, Fleur de Lys also in Beverly Hills for $125 million and Trump’s offering in Palm Beach for $125 million.
