Asia’s leading art fair is back. ART HK 11 will be held from 26-29 May 2011 and will feature 250 art galleries from around the world. Among these are some of the top-tier art galleries within the length and breadth of the Asia-Pacific region. Among the elite galleries being featured here are the Eslite Gallery in Taipei, the Long March Space in Beijing, Nature Morte in New Delhi and Anna Schwartz in Melbourne.
Among the returning galleries this year are Marianna Boesky, Leo Castelli, Galerie Lelong, The Modern Institute, Sperone Westwater and White Cube. Plus, several new galleries will also be participating in this prestigious art fair. These include names like Galleria Massimo De Carlo in Milan, Victoria Miro and Timothy Taylor in London, Sean Kelly and L&M Arts in New York, Yvon Lambert in Paris, and Sprüth Magers in Berlin.
The art fair this year has a special category called ART FUTURES, which will showcase the works of upcoming artists who are attached to 45 emerging galleries the world over. Watch out for names like Mother’s Tankstation in Dublin, Galerie Christian Lethert from Cologne and Mendes Wood in Sao Paulo. The winner will get a cash prize of US$250,000, sponsored by Land Crawford.
All eyes will be on the ASIA ONE section, where 47 galleries from 12 Asian countries will each showcase a solo exhibit by an Asian-origin artist. Among the well-known galleries participating in this section are Singapore’s Chan Hampe Galleries, Hong Kong’s Sin Sin Fine Art and the Red Gate Gallery from Beijing.
On 25 May, there will be an invites-only preview for collectors and members of the press. The fair will be open to the public on 26-29 May from 12pm onwards.
