Airstream is the renowned coach builder based at Ohio. Some of their best work has come from their collaboration with Mercedes Benz. They have been working together since 2010 and their latest design together has been built on the Mercedes Benz Sprinter. It is basically a commercial vehicle but it is premium model none the less. Airstream had built a motor home on the Sprinter chassis last year and have upgraded it by readying a feature rich version for the coming year. Called the 2014 Airstream Interstate, it is perhaps not the most luxurious RV in the market but it is definitely a premium model which is reflected in the price tag it carries.
It Has a Fuel Efficient and Powerful Engine
The Price of the base model starts at $146,300 and goes up to 149,000. There are two models of the Interstate on offer and one of them is a bit longer than the other. The luxurious trimmings and the lavishly done interiors justify the high pricing. The 2014 Airstream Interstate is powered by a 188-hp, 325-lb-ft 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 engine. It is an efficient engine that boasts of a towing capacity of up to 6400 pounds and a highway fuel economy rating of more than 18 mpg. As we had mentioned earlier, many of the features and amenities on the inside have been upgraded. There is a 22 inch Samsung flat screen TV with a Blu Ray player. To complete the entertainment package a Kenwood Multimedia System has also been installed in the new motor home.
It Can Seat Nine and Sleep Two People
The 2014 model boasts of many other technological improvements when compared to the 2013 model. The new model features a collision warning system, lane-keeping alert and parking sensors. The floor of the new model has been finished in rugged yet classy vinyl plank-style flooring and Airstream is offering multiple configurations and floor plan to suit your needs and preferences. The other improved feature in the new model is the LED driving lights and the HID headlamps. The new model has a more aggressive front with a sharper grille sporting chrome accents. The Airstream Interstate can accommodate a total of nine people in belted seats but it has provision for only two people if they want to sleep in it. It is a fun motor home for a family and provides the experience to match its price.
