We have always been featuring gadgets and stuff that are indecently covered with gold and diamonds. There is an undying love for everything that is bling and everything that is golden has been given undue importance. This time around Storz & Bickel Volcano Vaporizer has been coated with 24 carat gold and if you do not like gold they are willing to cover it with anything ranging from chrome to platinum.
What baffles me is, in the name of luxury why gadgets must be coated with gold. It is not likely that everything that is gold is great and it is not true that by coating something with a precious metal or by using diamonds something would turn into something very luxurious. It is a flawed concept which has been doing rounds in the luxury world for long.
It has been done so by the Computer Choppers dudes and it is strange that these geeky devices are being interpreted as luxurious stuff. Luxury is something that is associated with class and refinement, and not with gaudy metals and precious stones. Of course they may shine for a while, but that’s not that point anyway.
