1947 Bentley Mark VI Cabriolet is Considered the Most Valuable Post War Bentley

Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction scheduled to be held in January next year is already generating a lot of interest in collectors and car lovers as it will feature a 1947 Bentley Mark VI Cabriolet with custom coachwork by Franay. This particular model was created especially for the 1947 Paris Auto Show. This unique piece of automobile is considered by experts to be the most valuable postwar Bentley on the planet. There will be many bidders for the unique model. Though the estimated prices have not been released as yet, it is estimated to breach the $2 million barrier at the Scottsdale car auction as back in 2006 the car had fetched a cool $1.7 million.

The interior of the car is also unique and unusual as it is adorned with frog skin inserts. However the highlight is a built-in bespoke bar cabinet complete with glasses and silver flasks. The exclusive nature of the car is well recognized and rewarded. At the Rolls Royce national meet in August of 1991 was judged Best of Show amongst all the other Rolls Royce & Bentley automobiles that participated in the show. And mind you, the participants had come from around the world.

The Franay Bentley took home the Royce Memorial Trophy and top senior award in Ausust 1999 at the Rolls Royce national meet held at Dana Point, California. In Hurlingham, England it was declared the Best of Show in 1995 at the Concours D’Elegance. It also won the Spectator Trophy as most people voted it to be the best car in the show. Whenever you talk about the best and the most exclusive cars or prepare a list, this Bentley is always there amongst the cars on top. The car is also featured in Assouline’s new book, The Impossible Collection of Cars.
