Hotel Rooms Play Hard-To-Get

Now that it is April, you are already running late. Most luxury hotels in and around London are booked to the brim thanks to group ticket sales. Plus, Olympics officials, participants and delegates have taken up a huge chunk of the accommodations usually available in good ol’ London. But luckily for you, there are some dates available in some high-end hotels during the 2012 London Olympics. This means that you could be close to the London Olympics stadium for your favorite event provided you plan it right!

Hotel Booking? Get Sprinting!

Here is a little secret. Some hotels have a few free rooms during certain periods of the games. However, these rooms are hard to come by and they are selling off like hot cakes. If you are used to living in whichever hotel you feel like during your indulgent London vacations and are unwilling to compromise, it may be advisable to stay away until the Olympics are over. On the other hand, if you do not mind adjusting to a change for this sporty summer, Forbes selected five properties that you should consider!

1. Claridge’s

Located in Mayfair, this London hotel is widely appreciated for its classy Art Deco design. The five-star hotel made it to the Condé Nast Traveller Gold List 2010 as the “Best UK Hotel for Rooms”. If that is not enough of a push, you would be glad to know that Claridge’s still has rooms available for the Olympic summer. Pay $955 and you will get a double room. Pay $1,600, and you will have a suite at your disposal. The only problem is that the luxury hotel demands a minimum five-night stay during the 2012 London Olympics.

2. The Savoy

Managed by the Fairmont group, The Savoy is as British as it gets. More importantly for your current purposes, The Savoy is not fully booked up. Not yet at least. Moreover, unlike some other properties, there is no minimum-stay rule. However, room rates are understandably high during the period of the 2012 London Olympics. A luxury suite overlooking the Thames will cost you a whopping $4,400 per night.

3. The Ritz London

If Claridge’s and The Savoy do not work out for you, do not start stressing. There is also The Ritz London. And as every affluent traveler knows, you cannot go wrong with The Ritz. Pick the night you want to spend in London and gear up to book it. This luxury hotel is offering one-night bookings. The price pinch is in the range of between $1,200 and $5,200.

4. The Connaught

Another Mayfair landmark makes it to this list. The only problem is that like Claridge’s, this Mayfair hotel also demands that you book a minimum five-night stay during the 2012 London Olympics. Room rates are about $1,600 per night. You do the math.

5. Cliveden

If none of the other hotels work out for you, do not kick your efforts just yet. Cliveden is located only a 45-minute drive away from Central London, and they are offering a range of accommodations specifically aimed at the 2012 London Olympics. There is a three-night minimum stay, but the prices are relatively lower and in the range of $500 and $1,144.

Which one is your pick for the Olympics?
