Ten Designer Gowns Based on Disney Princess to be Auctioned by Christie’s

The Walt Disney Company had earlier last year commissioned top fashion designers to create ten of a kind designer gowns based on Disney princess. The exclusive and gorgeous pieces were displayed in the windows of Harrods last Christmas and will now become available in an auction being conducted by Christie’s. The ten dresses that can make you look like a princess will go under the hammer as part of Christie’s Vintage Couture and Luxury Handbags auction. These are top end gowns and you will have to loosen your purse strings if you want to acquire anyone of them. The bid for the fairytale gown starts at £3,000 which is close to $5,000.

The Proceeds of the Auction Will Go to a Children’s Charity

The pre sale estimates for the dresses have put the value of Rapunzel, Tiana, and Aurora dresses at around $8,000. The Snow White set has been placed even higher and valued at $10,000 as the dress comes with shoes and other accessories. The blue and yellow silk gown is an Oscar De La Renta creation and comes with an epic red cape. The other designers who have created exclusive designs for Disney include Versace, Valentino, Elie Saab, Ralph and Russo and Jenny Packham. The fairytale gowns are being auctioned for a noble cause as the proceeds will go towards supporting the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

Potential Buyers Can Start Bidding Through Phone or Email

The gorgeous dresses will be on display on site from November 9. It is sure to be the ultimate window shopping experience who missed them when they were on display at Harrods. Matthew Grossman, vice president of corporate citizenship, The Walt Disney Company EMEA formally opened the bidding process for the dresses. Potential buyers were invited to submit bids through phone or email leading up to the live auction which will be held on November 13. Disney is positioning the collection of dresses as unique and priceless Disney Princess-inspired works of art. The dresses, in any case, are no less than a collector’s item.
