Fairmont Creates the First Ambient Experience Concept Suite with Philips in Asia

The hospitality industry needs to think of new ideas to both retain its customer base and attract new customers. Fairmont Singapore has introduced a new concept for enhancing the in suite hotel experience. Called the Ambient Experience Concept Suite, it has been developed by Philips and launched in Singapore. It is part of Philips’ Hotel of the Future program. The program has three well defined areas. This is part of the Simplicity campaign where as the other two are healthcare sector, and mother-infant wellness. The concept is basically a play of lights but the effect is simply stunning.

Ambient Experience Concept Suite

Philips has used different lighting fixtures to create different light effects to create different moods. Their Ambient Experience Concept Suite was first showcased in London last year. These special light installations are carefully positioned around the luxury suite. The lighting fixtures can be controlled and changed to four pre set themes. You can change the lighting theme through the remote control to suit different occasions. The themes are, Rise, Perk, Lush and Rest. Rise as the name suggests is the wake up light. A huge square lighting feature hangs above the bed and emits an amber glow and intensifies like the sun to rouse you from your sleep.

Fairmont Develops a Prototype Room

The concept suite has motion-sensor activated lights on the walls near the floor on the way to the bathroom. A ceiling fixture in the bathroom is mounted just above the bath tub and its LED lights create a starlight experience. The rest mode also creates the blue effect through the lights to help the guests retire for the night. Lush mode, as the name suggests washes the room in a swath of purple light. It creates the ambiance for a candle light dinner. CitizenM hotel in Schipol, Amsterdam is the only hotel which has implemented the Philips’ ambient lighting solutions. Fairmont has developed a prototype room but has still not decided as to how many rooms will finally feature these fancy lights.
