From January 7, even North America will get its very own Ice hotel. Hotel de Glace is the name of this ‘cool’ place, which will be located in Quebec’s downtown area. We all know about Sweden’s Icehotel that had become very popular thanks to its interesting concept. This place actually runs like a seasonal hotel running each year from January 7 to March 27.
These guys also choose a special theme for each year and this year’s theme is “Biodiversity in all its forms”. Hotel de Glace’s Artistic Director Serge Péloquin said that visitors will get to see “habitats inspired by the cohabitation of all forms of life†reflected in the many ice sculptors and architecture that will installed in the public area as well as the themed suites. This will be the hotels’ eleventh edition and will be extra special as it will see the hotel’s 30,000th guest check in for a night in one of their sub-zero rooms.
This place is just a ten minutes drive from Quebec City’s downtown and is located on the site of the town’s old zoo. Celsius, the heated large communal area has a restaurant, bar and a boutique. There are also hot tubs and sauna for the visitors to relax. The children can enjoy themselves on a slide made of ice. The entire place will be functional from January 20th.
