It is a known fact now that the Edmonton Journal has profiled six emerging extremely talents artists from Canada vis-a-vis their performance at the local theater scene. This includes young playwrights and actors who are all set to make a big impression on the world. And there is one among them who is emerging as something of a prodigy. We have been hearing quite a lot about stage designer Daniela Masellis and her creative wits. Dubbed a theatre geek by many, she spent the year 2007 as a backstage apprentice in Milan at the reputed Teatro alla Scala and worked on the new Luca Ronconi 2008 Puccini Il Tittico.
But that is not what she is being celebrated for. Daniela is the one who thought of and developed the Suor Agelica. This one is a huge and by huge we mean really huge papier-mâché nun that served as a catwalk for the case. And now there are plans to sell it at a price of $1.2 million dollars.
But there is a difference of opinion. Some regard this as a wondrous work of art but then there still are some who thought that the madonna is so huge that it dwarfed everything else on the stage during the production. In both cases, Daniela wins.
