Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are the latest entrants in the long list of celebrities who dabble in wine production. The celebrity couple own an estate called Château Miraval in France. There is a 148 acre vineyard attached to this French estate and the first batch of wine from this estate will go on sale from next month. Named after the Château, this brand of wine has been christened Miraval. This wine was earlier called Pink Floyd. The reason for this is because apparently Pink Floyd, the British rock band recorded their famous 1979 album “The Wall” in a studio on the Miraval estate. This property was purchased by ‘Brangelina’ in 2012.
The wine label Miraval Cotes de Provence label is being produced in collaboration with the renowned Gallic wine family Perrin. The collaboration with the Perrin family is definitely a good idea as they own Chateau Beaucastel in the southern Rhone Valley and have been pioneers of organic viticulture since 1950s. Brad Pitt has stated that he and Angelina are very much involved and excited about this project. The couple were indeed present at this year’s blending sessions and have also contributed to the design of the new bottle. Currently they are producing red wine, but the white version will also be available by year end. All bottles are going to be organic.
The bandwagon of celebrities with their own wine includes Drew Barrymore, Antonio Banderas, Olivia Newton John, Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, Sam Neill, Emilio Estevez among several others. Sting’s Italian estate three wines: Sister Moon and When We Dance and Casino delle vie. Francis Ford Coppola’s estate produces an impressive range of eight high-end vintages. Marc Perrin said they hope to bring out around 150,000 bottles of rose wine this year and distribute it through renowned wine exporters and restaurants.
