Exercising within the air-conditioned interiors of the gym can get stifling at times, especially for the outdoorsy types. So ElliptiGO has come up with a new three-speed elliptical bike as an easier sibling for its earlier 8-speed variant, the ElliptiGO 8C. The ElliptiGO 3C is an exercise bike that combines the benefits of running and cycling while minimizing the negatives. You can finally bid goodbye to saddle soreness and leg and back troubles. Plus, the upright cyclist becomes more prominent and visible on roads.
The first-generation elliptical bike, Alfa, was born after ElliptiGO founder Bryan Pate developed hip and knee injuries from running. Pate turned to cycling but found it uncomfortable. Together with Brent Teal, he developed the Alfa as a low-impact running device that could be taken out on the streets. Soon after, they developed the next prototype, entered the 2008 Rosarito to Ensenada Bike Ride, and found that though it did not win, it could compete with other exercise bikes. The duo then went on to release the ElliptiGO 8C in February last year. Now, a little over a year later, the ElliptiGo 3C has been launched.
According to ElliptiGO, users should be able to cruise at speeds of 12 to 15mph. You can reach maximum speeds of 20 to 25mph. The stride length can be adjusted between 16 to 25 inches to suit different users. The bike can handle inclines of up to 5 percent. However, if you like tackling rougher terrain, the 8-speed version would be better suited for you.
Weighing 42 lbs, and with a 54-inch wheelbase and 20-inch aluminum wheels with linear pull rim breaks and a Sturney Archer S30 trigger shifter, the ElliptiGO 3C is currently available in three color variants (green, black and orange) at the discounted price of $1,799.
