Peter Feldmann has truly given back to the world of art what he has received from them. Hans-Peter Feldmann was awarded the $100,000 Biennal Hugo Boss prize for his contributions to the contemporary art world last year. He literally invested the entire amount in creating a unique and exceptional artwork. The German visual artist is a master at collecting, ordering and re-presenting amateur snapshots, print photographic reproductions. For this particular work Feldmann did not collect photographs but $1 bills that had gone out of circulation.
Feldmann didn’t just get few of these dollar bills but got 100,000 of them and neatly pinned them on the entire wall space of a corner and a pillar as well at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York. This exhibition by Peter Feldmann is part of the Hugo Boss prize he received last year. It has a unique visual impact. You have never seen anything like this before and you might not see anything like this again. The visual artist has done it again and this time without using any photographs which he normally does.
The Artwork had to be created, rather installed at the exhibition site itself at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York. It required a lot of patient hard work. The German visual artist put in 13 days of concentrated work to complete the installation. This well guarded exhibit is bound to become a topic of discussion amongst the art lovers visiting the exhibition. The exhibition will be available until November 2, 2011.
