Nail lacquer is no longer the sole domain of the ladies. With men like David Beckham, Johnny Depp and Prince Harry sporting nail paint, it was about time that a men’s only nail polish was launched. Evolution Man has taken the first step in this burgeoning business of men’s nail paint. This is not the most expensive nail polish – that tag remains limited to the women’s market, along with the most expensive manicure. However, Evolution Man is sure to become all the rage as more and more men get in touch with their femininity.
Nail-polish-loving men have three new masculine shades from which to choose – Pavement (grey), Alter Ego (metallic purple) and Stand Out (gunmetal). The shades are a testament to the colors that men prefer to wear. Although the likes of David Beckham and Prince Harry have sported pink nail lacquer in the past, most men remain relatively conformist when painting their nails. Thus, shades like blue, white and black are most likely to jump off the shelves. The metallic shades introduced by Evolution Man take their cue from modern car finishes, giving traditional colors a new spin.
Marco Berardini of Evolution Man explains that the masculine manicures are poised to gain popularity. He says that a clean manicure or a bold color are a means of expression. Berardini adds, “It is definitely less permanent than a tattoo, and you can change the color depending on your choice of mood or fashion.” Evolution Man is also offering two top coats, one of which offers a glossy shine while the other is more matte.
