Heads up: Here is a news for spirit lovers and record breakers who don’t want to miss an opportunity to flaunt their self-indulgence. Before anything, 3 cheers to Mexican distiller Hacienda La Capilla and designer Fernando Altamirano for unveiling “The Diamond Sterling,†big-ticket tequila, in platinum and diamond-covered bottle. Priced at $3.5 million, the 1.3-litre bottle has a ceramic layer and stands out with a 2.3-kilogram layer of platinum plus 4,000 diamonds totaling 328 carats. Altamirano is hoping to bag another Guinness World Record touted to be the world’s most expensive tequila.
The bottle was publicized while designer Fernando Altamirano was interviewed over Reuters television in Mexico City. Hacienda La Capilla had earlier entered the history of Guinness records by offering the most expensive tequila bottle sold for US $225,000 in 1996.
