Antiquorum to Auction Sir Edmund Hillary’s Rolex Watch Collection

Important Vintage and Modern Timepieces is an event that would be held between the 13 and 14th of November. The event would see the sale of Antiquorum’s important time pieces and watches and it would be held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Geneva. The cherry on the top, at the event is a personal collection of Rolex watches that belonged to Sir Edmund Hillary, who was the first man in the world to conquer the Mt. Everest in the Himalayas.

They have been consigned for sale by Lady Hillary. One of the models that would blow your mind is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual, ref. 6084. It dates back to 1953 and was a gift from the Rolex Bosecks of Calcutta, India when Sir Edmund Hillary conquered the peak. He wore the same watch during his 1955-1958 trans-Antarctic expedition.

It was also the first overland crossing of Antarctica. This particular wat6ch is expected to fetch a handsome amount of $20,000. The gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date, ref. 15238 which was purchased on the occasion of reaching the summit would be sold for about $10,000.
