The world’s most expensive lunch

Warren Buffet beats his own record. Last year’s annual charity auction of lunch with Berkshire Hathaway Inc. CEO  had fetched $1.68 million. But that was due to the global downturn and the worldwide economic slowdown. This year the auction to dine with the octogenarian guru of investment set a new record of $2,626,311 on eBay. The record, till now, for this event with a history of eleven years was $2.1 million raised in the year 2008.

It is a positive sign and definitely signifies the revival of the economy. Incidents like this give us the hope that the worst is over. It is like the light at the end of the tunnel. It is morale boosting for the people in general and those in the commercial field in particular.

The Glide Foundation of San Francisco will receive the proceeds of this event. The foundation helps the homeless and other weaker section of society who need aid and help. The foundation has been doing wonderful work and has stood up for the needy.

Everyone is curious about the identity of the winner of the auction but there has been no official confirmation so far. The lunch usually takes place at Smith & Wollensky, the famous New York City restaurant. It has been confirmed that the lunch will take place at the same venue.
