Art Marries Sports at the £40 million Cultural Olympiad

I do not know how Shakespeare would have reacted had he been alive to see his fame reach this high. But I am more than happy to know about the Cultural Olympiad which is to take place in London. The major components of the program would be Shakespeare festival and 12 new public works of art. The entire event will run for more than four years having an assortment of 500 events and shows. “The Cultural Olympiad would co-ordinate the opening and closing ceremonies at the London games, as well as local and regional events.” Informs BBC.
The organizers intend to invite artists from all over the world to participate in this multi event. The total funds set aside for the event is £40 million. The program will focus on fine art, sculpture, story-telling, musical events, films etc. This is a novel concept that I am listening to the first time- inter mixing of art and sports and I hope that it becomes a success!
