Who says luxury can not be green! Green yachts have been in the world of high sees for some time now. Danish Yachts have come up with a brand new 38 million super yacht called the “Project 116â€. The Green Voyager and the WHY have inspired this bold initiative of the Danish Yachts.
Espen Oeino was roped in to design the yacht. The hull of the yacht has been created with carbon fibre instead of the conventional composite build. This innovation not only saves 25% material but makes the yacht lighter making it possible for the yacht to move faster and consume less fuel. The yacht is fitted with twin diesel engine that gives it a cruising speed of 50 knots and a high range of 900 miles. Great care has been taken to ensure that MARPOL requirements for marine pollution are fully complied with. The Danish Yachts are working along with Lisa Airplanes in order to mount the light aircraft atop the yacht. The aircraft chosen for the purpose is Lisa Akoya. It scored above others because it features folding wings for easy storage and low fuel consumption. The yacht will also sport a reflecting glass in order to conserve energy.
The project 116 scores on the luxury front also. Espen Oeino has designed the interiors . He has not only given it a sleek and sporty look but taken care of every luxury possible. Bang & Olufsen entertainment system has been installed. The centralised air conditioning system has been customised to ventilate every corner of the yacht.
