Invest in property while you are still young, suggest most parents. But Taylor Swift’s parents don’t need to, for their songstress daughter has splashed out on a $2.5 million home for them. The luxury home is located in the posh Nashville area. Not that it is Taylor’s first big gift to mom and dad. The singer had already gifted her parents a $1.4 million home in April this year.
Her parents, Andrea Gardner and Scott Kingsley Swift, must be swelling with pride in their hugely successful daughter. The new mansion provides the ideal luxury living address for the Grammy winner’s parents. Their new neighbors are folks like Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban.
The luxury home itself is huge, covering 5,600 square feet and set on a 6-acre estate. Landscaped gardens, a 2,000-square-foot pool house and high-end appliances add to the appeal of this historic luxury mansion. Named the Northumberland Estate, the property was built back in 1934 by Guilford Dudley Jr., then United States ambassador to Denmark. The property appears to have musical connections as well, having formerly been owned by Luke Lewis, chairman of the Universal Music Group.
Large windows, a spacious kitchen and classic décor make this a perfect home for Taylor Swift’s parents. They are sure to be pleased as punch with the new gift from their generous daughter. According to reports, Taylor is building an enviable property portfolio. She already owns property in Los Angeles and another property in Nashville. Her 2011 earnings of $45 million is certainly helping.
But Taylor is known for her generous streak. Her backup singers and dancers were the latest beneficiaries as Taylor treated them all to a three-day vacation in Charleston, as an oceanfront break from the singer’s hectic tour schedule. The girl gang was photographed on the beach and on a yacht during their well-deserved trip. In one photo, Taylor is captured in a vintage swimsuit teamed with retro sunglasses and a headscarf. The singer shared pictures of the trip on her blog, and revealed to fans her quirky habit of making lists – including a list of all the places she wants to visit. She added a thank you note to fans as well, saying, “Thanks to you all and your wonderful niceness, I’ve gotten to see most of the places on my list on tour.”
The singer and her crew have been on the Speak Now Tour since February 2011. She revealed on her blog that the idea of a mini-vacation seemed “incredible”. So she found a three-day window in the month of August and packed off all her onstage buddies – a fiddle player, a backup singer, two dancers and three aerialists – to accompany her to another of the places on her must-visit list. The group thus set off for a weekend break to Charleston, Carolina.
On the same blog post, Taylor revealed that she is “a girl of many phases”. And the trip was one of the phases when she got into photo-taking mode. “For these three days, that’s what I did,” she says. Again, Taylor made sure to thank her fans in her own light, gracious way, “And because your niceness is why I get to take vacations, I thought I’d share them with you.”
