World’s Most Expensive Rum the Legacy by Angostura to be Auctioned in New zealand

Angostura is the world’s most awarded international rum brand and they have created a new blend Legacy by Angostura which is possibly the most expensive blend of rum ever created. One bottle from the limited edition creation will go on sale in New Zealand in November. In all only twenty 500ml bottles will be produced and the auction in New Zealand handled by Webb’s Premiere auction house is expected to fetch NZ$30,000. The blending of fine spirits is a labor of love that involves both art and science. Angostura Master Blenders, backed by fifty years of rich experience worked for six years to achieve this fine blend after putting together seven of the brand’s most rare and precious rums.

The Final Blend Achieved by Experimenting With Different Rums

The youngest rum in the blend is 17 years old and has been aged in American Oak Bourbon casks on site at Angostura’s distillery in Trinidad. Master Distiller at Angostura John Georges pointed out that the project was never trying to achieve a pre-determined blend but experimented with different rums with characteristics that deserved prominence. The aim was simply to create the greatest sipping rum ever produced and Legacy by Angostura is definitely the ultimate expression of their rum. The new blend will be limited to only twenty bottles so only a few lucky individuals will get the opportunity to taste this ultimate rum.
