Westminster Abbey May Get a Royal Corona

Rev John Hall, the Dean at the Westminster Abbey briefed Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles about building the corona on top of England’s most famous church. The project is going to cost about 10 million pounds and is something that would need public approval for a “go-ahead”. In a plan to redevelop Westminster Abbey, a further 13 million pounds have been sought and this comes at a time of celebration of the diamond jubilee of the Queen’s coronation in June 2013.

Princes Diana and Queen mother have been laid in the premises and is one of the most significant places in England. However, many people might oppose the construction of a corona as that would change the look of the abbey. Many people may not be ready to spend so much of tax-payer’s money on the renovation either.

Though there is nothing religious about the coronation or the renovation of an ancient structure, people might still not like the idea of spending so much of money on the abbey. However, Westminster Abbey is one of the most important edifices of European architecture.
