We might See the World’s Most Expensive Ice Cream in Honor of the Royal Wedding

Colin Bleasdale who teaches art at Larches House in Preston is set to celebrate the Royal Wedding Day by making an ice cream. He plans to make a floral bouquet style ice cream that might even get him a mention in the Guinness Book of Records. Mr. Bleasdale while explaining what he plans to do said that the ice cream he plans to create will resemble a wedding posy that will be covered in fake jewels made from jelly or melted toffee. A total of 15 cones will be used create the bouquet. He will cover the final product with real gold leaves.

Colin normally sells his ice cream from his tricycle that he takes to farmers’ markets, food festivals and private functions. He makes the ice cream himself at home but to restaurant standards. He is particular about the milk he uses and sources it only from NFU Chorley member John Baldwin who farms at Denham Springs Farm, Whittle le Woods in Chorley. Colin in his attempt to get into the Guinness Book of Records is facing competition from the existing record for the most expensive dessert which is held by a New York restaurateur who had created a chocolate sundae worth $25,000. He had boosted the cost of the dessert by adding an 18ct gold bracelet and a golden spoon with white and chocolate diamonds.

It is to be seen if Colin’s efforts get him an entry in the record books or not but the buzz created by the proposed extravagant ice cream has already helped raise the profile of John Baldwin’s dairy business. Colin’s unofficial Royal Wedding ice cream will be auctioned off to the highest bidder at an event in Samlesbury Hall. The event is scheduled for Easter Sunday (April 24). The profits from the auction are meant to benefit a farming charity with Royal patronage, The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI). Our best wishes are with Colin Bleasdale and we hope that his efforts get a mention in the Guinness Book of Records.
