Warren Buffet is a name synonymous with charity and philanthropic activities. An American business magnate he has carved a niche for himself amongst the world’s wealthiest men and was also named by the Time magazine to be the most influential people in the world. Known for his many noble causes he has stated that he will donate 99% of his wealth to charity. And so he does every year through the Gates Foundation.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have lunch with someone whose net worth was once slated to be $620 million and someone who was amongst the Forbes 400. The moment will be priceless but you will sure have to pay a price for it and that too a hefty one. A San Francisco based charitable organisation is inviting bids for a unique lunch with Warren Buffet auction on e-Bay. The base price of the auction is $25,000 and the bidding for this rather expensive ‘lunch for a cause’ was conducted on the 8th of June at 10.30 pm on EDT. All the bids were to be conducted  via eBay.
The auction made headlines after the lunch was sold for a whopping $3.5million. It is now slated as the most expensive lunch sold at an auction. The World’s Record Academy has stated the same. In the past the World Records academy have also recognized most expensive lunch dates. A Hong Kong based investor won the auction by buying it for a staggering $2.1 million.
This is not for the first time that a Warren Buffet lunch has been auctioned. This very interesting concept of a buffet lunh has been in vogue for sometime and not long ago an anonymous bidder paid a whopping $2.6 million for a Warren Buffet lunch. The proceeds from the auction once again went to Bill and Melinda Gates foundation which aims at reducing poverty levels around the world along with improving healthcare and promoting educational opportunities. The grand and exorbitant lunch took place at the New York’s Smith and Wollensky’s Steak house and it seems everything except future investments were discussed over the table.
Warren Buffet also had the most expensive lunch for $2,626,311 and broke his own previous record. The proceeds went to the San Francisco based Glide foundation whose intention is to help people on the streets.
You may wonder why people would want to pay ridiculous amounts just for a lunch with this guru of investments. It’s the charity of course but not many know that just a few minutes spent with Warren Buffet does magic to their Public Relations status.
The Warren Buffet Lunch Auction
Like the previous Warren Buffet auctions, this also promised to be the same with not much change. At the last auction, the winner also landed a high paying job with the Berkshire-Hathaway Buffet’s conglomerate. Although this was not the guarantee this year. The lucky winner by the name of Ted Weschler, a fund manager by profession, won the auction last year by paying a whopping $2.6 million. Hence, the job as an investment with Berkshire-Hathaway Buffet was just an icing on the cake.
Unfortunately, that may not be the case this year, but the winner once again  enjoyed a sumptuous once in a lifetime meal at the Smith and Wollensky Steakhouse in Manhattan with Warren Buffet, the Wizard of Omaha, along with seven of your friends.
This was the 13th year of the very famous and unique Warren Buffet luncheons. All these lunches have so far raised a $11.5 million.
The proceeds of this auction will also go to the Glide Foundation. It is said that Warren became associated with this foundation through his first wife, Susan.
