Vintage Boats or Replicas on Offer

Like cars, people love to own vintage boats as well. But one must admit that restoring a classic mahogany racing boat from the 1920s can be very time consuming proposition. It is also going to be a very expensive project with no guarantees of 100% success. But the appeal of the vintage model is so strong that you would still want to own it. Since restoring the original is near impossible the next best option is to get a perfect reproduction.

This is where Mark Mason, owner of New England Boat & Motor Company  of New Hampshire steps in. At his boatyard in Laconia he is now building three 1920 racing models. He has priced the 27 ft long boats with 6 foot beam at $395,000. The three boats will be exact copies of original gentleman’s racers and will take their names.

Impshi was originally built by  Strother MacMinn who was a famous automobile designer of his times. The second boat is called Palm Beach Days and was originally designed by famous naval architect John L Hacker for a Palm Beach socialite. He not only raced it around the country but also used it as a stylish runabout at his yacht club. The new reproduction of the boat is equipped with a GM V8 engine which gives it a top speed of 70 mph and a cruising speed of 50mph.
