The list of the richest men in the world has seen some changes in the top ten in recent years. The reign of Bill Gates and Warren Buffet at the top is over and retaining the top spot has become even more difficult. Forbes magazine has done a new special report on the coming decade in finance and economics and their prediction is that in four years’ time the world’s richest man will be Indian commodity king Mukesh Ambani.
The report has taken several factors into account and have estimated that Ambani’s fortune is likely to swell to $62 billion by 2014. As per their considered estimates the other contenders of the top spot will not be able to keep pace with him. The magazine have based their calculations and projections on the kind of investments they or their companies have at the moment.
According to the magazine the current richest man of the world, Carlos Slim who is worth $53.5 billion at the moment has some risky investments in his portfolio including a large stake in the struggling New York Times. In all likelihood Slim and his net worth will be hit hard by Mexican political and financial chaos. Mukesh is currently the fourth richest man with a fortune of $29 billion.
