U-Boat Worx comes out with new and improved personal submarines

U-Boat Worx has developed personal submarines that have been a regular feature at the Monaco Yacht Show over the past few years. These brightly coloured things are seen carrying buyers for mini sea trials. These subs are usually marketed to resorts and megayacht owners. The Holland based company has improved its model and made it capable of diving almost 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) under the water, depending on the model.

The new lineup is called the C-Explorer and can accommodate upto 6 passengers. The first C-Explorer is called C-Explorer 2 and will be able to carry 2 people to depths of around 200 meters (654 feet). Another model is styled like a catamaran. Its acrylic hulls give it a better view and the empty floaters that automatically fold in when the sub goes down, facilitate better movement.

Those who want a ride in these subs can come to the Monaco Yacht Show and enjoy a demo ride. And those who want to buy it will have to shell out €280,000 (about $360,000) for a one-seater model and up to €840,000 ($1.08 million) for a five-seater model. All of U-Boat Worx’s designs are approved by Germanischer Lloyd, and hence, one can be assured of the quality.

  • These are amazing. I would love to have one of these new and improved personal submarines from U-Boat Worx. I could see this being a ton of fun just of the island shore. This is certainly going on my wish list.
